Stratford Historical Society maintains a Museum in the former Methodist Church, Hobson St, Stratford.

It is currently open 10am to 3pm Tuesdays, and 2pm to 4pm the second and fourth Sunday of the month.

Access to the archives is by appointment only on 0418 573 828.

The Official History of the Avon Shire 1840 -1900 by John Wilson (ed). Originally published 1951 by the Avon Shire Council, reprinted 1991 by the Stratford and District Historical Society. 231 pages plus 17 page index. Illustrated (seven photographs).

One of the original Gippsland histories, this edition is typewritten and double-spaced. Nevertheless it is a difficult-to-find and useful reference.
